Bio
ElizaBeth "Lace" Gilligan lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Doug, and their adult children: Patrick and Brianna; as well as a four-pack of exuberant dogs and enough cats to establish her as the neighborhood "Cat Lady."
As a self-described literary opportunist, ElizaBeth has been writing since earliest memory. DAW books has already released the first two novels in her "Silken Magic" series --MAGIC'S SILKEN SNARE and THE SILKEN SHROUD -- Alternate History/Fantasies about Romani ("Gypsy") silk merchants set in an alternate 17th century Sicily (renamed Tyrrhia). Within the tapestry of the Baroque court, in a land of contradictions -- tolerance in the heart of the Inquisition; a land of intellectual freedom, surrounded and understood through the powers of magic and the fey -- the Romani have found a home in the gadjé's world, lead by two sisters, (Luciana, full-blooded Romani and eldest, and Alessandra, half-blood Romani, fairy-blessed) who control the valuable trade in Gypsy Silk. The first court intrigues begin to swirl after the death of Alessandra and Luciana's arrival with vendetta on her mind. In the sequel, THE SILKEN SHROUD, Luciana's battle to save Alessandra's soul is rejoined by the revealed Capitano Mandero de Montago, Alessandra's fairy-wed husband. The battle takes on greater importance than the soul of a single woman when it is revealed that the Romani clans, in direct defiance of the White King, are being hunted as witches. The third book in the Silken Magic series, SOVEREIGN SILK (delayed by illness) tells of the culmination of magicks used by those trained and skilled in the art … as well as those dabbling, little realizing that all of this might put their loved ones, and even Tyrrhia itself.
ElizaBeth also takes time out to write the occasional short story, has formed and manages a noteworthy research list for genre writers (JoysOfResearch on Yahoo Groups), is an herbalist, ardent historian, researcher, dabbles in the fiber arts (to include teaching knitting at a local craft store) and home-schooled her children.
In her copious free time, ElizaBeth has served as Secretary to the Board of Directors for SFWA after nearly a decade serving in SFWA Convention Relations. She formed and manages the noteworthy research list for genre writers, JoysOfResearch on Yahoo Groups, is an herbalist, ardent historian, researcher and philosopher.
